Alum Powder Uses, Benefits & Precautions


One of India's most ancient remedies for beautiful skin, healthy teeth, and much more is alum powder called fitkari in Hindi. It has been used in India since centuries for pretty much everything - let's find out the benefits below.


Benefits of Alum Powder -

-use alum powder for skin brightening, to tone skin, to remove tan, for skin tightening, for skin glow, to get rid of hyperpigmentation and scar spots, for blemishes and acne skin, for improving skin tone and texture and to remove dead skin cells.


-according to Hinduism, alum powder or alum stone is great for bringing good luck and positive energy


-alum powder can be used as a natural deodorant as it is great for absorbing sweat and odors


-alum has been used in India for centuries for water purification - alum stone or fitkari is used to remove impurities from water where they then collect at the bottom of the container thus making the water on top completely pure and healthy. Alum is considered non-toxic and very safe for water purification.


-(men) alum bar or powder can be used after-shave to avoid redness, razor bumps, irritation or burning


-alum bar or powder can be used to stop bleeding

Here are 3 'recipes' to help you with your alum stone or powder - find it easily in Indian stores for a few bucks or online.


How to Use Alum -


-for face skin, simply add alum powder to aloe vera or rose water and apply for a few mins. Wash and apply some moisturizer as alum can be drying. Use twice a week.


-for after-shave or to stop bleeding - wet alum bar or stone or powder and apply as a soothing balm after shaving.


-for teeth and gums, apply the alum stone or powder directly with a few drops of water or as a rinse and then spit it out.


-for deodorant, wet alum bar or stone and apply underarms and you are done!
