Navel oiling is a very ancient remedy, used since centuries in India. In this article, learn about the benefits of this remedy and how you can use it to your advantage. One of the greatest advantage of being born an Indian is that you just learn things - without having to learn anything! What do I mean? In India, herbal medicine and traditional home remedies are used so much that from the young age, one learns of these applications. Take for example, this navel oil remedy, which we are going to discuss today - it is something I have known since I was born! I remember my grandma applying navel oil on me many times and often telling me and others about it's benefits. Did she know the science behind this therapy? YES. But did she ever go to some science classes to learn of it? Heck NO!!
What is Navel Oil Massage? Navel oil massage, also called as navel therapy or navel oiling,is a very old practice in India. It is used for treating various ailments (or disturbances) in the body - simply by massaging the navel with various types of oils. Ayurvedic explaination, plz? In Ayurveda, it is believed that massaging the navel (nabhi or tundi) with certain oils can eliminate diseases. This belief is based on the fact that it is our navel that is the life source as when we are in the womb, the navel links the mother and the child to provide nutrients from food to the child. This is why navel is believed to be the energy center, one that if taken care of, can bring balance, nourishment and peace to our mind and body. The other aspect of this is the fact that our navel is connected to many detox pathways, veins, colon, digestion, blood vessels, both large and small intestines as well as our reproductive organs, it is therefore beneficial to provide oil massage as it is powerfully absorbed and transferred where needed. Glad you liked the article and found it useful. For your daughter, tell her she can start with NEEM oil and even mix a few drops of tea tree oil to heal the infection. That should help a lot! Best wishes, -Somyata

I was looking at the video about using hing for colic, and noticed she said not to put it into the navel itself. Does that sound accurate? Thanks!

This may seem like a silly question--except that it is not. I don't have a real navel. Many years ago, I had a bilateral mastectomy and, since I was worried about implants, I had free-flap reconstruction using abdominal muscle and fat. If I had watched 'One Mississippi" before I had the mastectomy, I would not have had reconstruction, but that is way off the subject. About the navel massage, I assume that there is something about that part of my body--or maybe the chakra...I'm interested to know if you have any thoughts.

Hi Alice - Yes. You can get the oil of your choice, like olive or sesame, from your supermarket. Just make sure you find ones that are pure and good quality. Another great oil to use or combine is castor oil. Plz. read my article on castor oil as it will help you a lot and it goes with this article very well. Hope this helps! -Somyata

Hi - You need to use castor oil + black seed oil + mustard oil. Warm the oils slightly with some crushed garlic cloves and very finely chopped onions and let the oils simmer on LOW for few mins, about 7-10 mins. You can also add some neem oil - read my article on NEEM. Apply this mixture when it's warm. You can make enough and keep in airtight jar for a week or 2. Keep in cool dry place or if you like, keep in fridge. Use good amount of garlic and onions. For oils, use 1/2 cup each...Hope this helps! Your diet is important too. What are you eating? Subscribe to my youtube and try my recipes - you will be amazed. -Somyata.

You can definitely do it with castor oil - that IS THE oil for pcos/pcod. Mix it with some kalongi oil and then warm it every night before application. You can also add crushed garlic cloves and mustard oil. You can make this blend and keep in jar and use daily at night. The castor oil mix needs to be massaged on full abdomen inc. the liver daily until you fully heal. Do check out my Castor Oil Article. as well. It will help you.

Hi Tara - You can infuse some coconut oil with ajwain seeds and then apply it. Warm some coconut oil (1/2 cup), add the seeds (2 tablespoons) and simmer on low heat for about 20 mins...Cover it and let it sit overnight and now, store this in clean, airtight jar. Apply it daily few times and that should help.

Hello dear Mary - For any dental issues, use clove oil. We also use neem oil. So, you can make a mix in olive oil (about 2 oz.) and add few drops of neem oil (about 15 drops) + clove oil (7 drops) and apply on your gums or where the abscess is...

Hi Anastasia - I am so sorry to hear that you have cancer and you are in so much pain. There is no one oil that will help you heal your cancer or get rid of pain completely but you can try some black seed oil on your navel and see...

Migraines come for lots of diff. reasons and to ease his seizures, it is not one item or herb to add..it would require more of an in-depth analysis on the nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, etc. If you are interested, you can email me and go from there...:) - Somyata.
