Enjoy this raw onion chutney, made with just 5 ingredients. It is one of the most powerful anti-cancer recipes you will ever eat!
I love this raw onion chutney - it is super tasty, quick and easy recipe that one can whip up anytime and any day of the week. If you have never tried raw onion chutney, then it is time to try one now! In India, we eat raw onions regularly with our brunch, lunch and dinner meals. It is part of our culinary tradition as well as influence of Ayurveda and native practices focused on disease prevention rather than disease management.
This recipe is very dear to me as it is inspired by my late aunt's recipe - she knew how much I loved it and would make it for me every time I would visit her home. After her sudden death, I missed this chutney and wanted to do something in honor of my love for her and vice versa. So, I decided to recreate her onion chutney recipe and while this is my recipe 100%, it is very close to her recipe. This recipe is from my dad's side of the family - my paternal grandmother and then my late aunt (my dad's sister) are the only two in the family who use to make this chutney to pair with rice recipes and now, I am the third one in the family who makes it - one of my most favorite recipes! I have paired it with rice dishes like pulao, lentils and rice, and so on and it goes great with all of them. Do give it a try and let me know what you think! Ingredients - 1. Organic red onion -1 large size 2. Ginger - About 1 to 2 in 3. Dry Red chilies - 1 or 2 (no more than 2, as mine came out very spicy! lol.) 4. Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves 5. Tamarind paste - 2 Full Tablespoons 6. Salt & Black Pepper to taste 7. Lemon juice - 1 Teaspoon's worth Simple steps - Watch the video/pics for step-by-step recipe and exact measurements.
