A true Ayurvedic style tadka with mustard & cumin seeds, spices, ginger-garlic & cilantro. Great tempering for lentils or beans.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Tadka is a kind of tempering used to make lentils/beans/curries more tasty and healthy. It's an Ayurvedic concept - one that enhances digestion as well as body's healing capacity due to the influence of ginger, garlic, spices and herbs in it. The oil in the tadka is used by the body to transfer spices into the cells and use the spices for their healing properties.

Now, I put LOT of ginger-garlic in ALL my recipes that call for the combo. I truly advice all that to have good health, increase immunity, prevent cancer & such diseases, to start adding these two in every possible dish of yours.

And we are not kids anymore - so, yes! add a bit more each time. Don't be lazy - peel that extra garlic cloves and ginger root. And then add. And eat.

For cancer patients too - anyone recovering from cancer, fear not. These two (ginger-garlic), along with all other ingredients in this tadka are powerful healers. Increase the quantity that goes in the body - you are not eating all of this in one bite or one time. So, make sure, each bite you take includes enough of healing power so that it can go in the body and do its work.

What are the benefits of my tadka? Why did I 'design' this? Read on...

Mustard & Cumin Seeds - Digestives as well as nutrient dense
Cilantro - Cancer fighting herb + blood cleanser + flushes heavy metals out of the body
Tomatoes - Cancer fighter (esp. prostate cancer) + good for skin
Ginger-Garlic - Cancer fighters + digestives + anti-inflammatory + anti-bacterial + anti-viral
Turmeric - Cancer fighting spice + anti-inflammatory
Cayenne - Cancer fighting spice + blood cleansing + heart healthy!

Ingredients -

1. Organic, Unrefined coconut oil
2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
3. Cumin seeds - 2 Tablespoons

4. 2 organic tomatoes
5. Ginger-garlic (1 or 2 whole garlic & 1/2 inch ginger)

6. 1 whole bunch organic cilantro/coriander
7. Turmeric, cayenne, sea salt (add less first, you can adjust later - so 1/3 teaspoon each)

Simple steps -

Watch the video/pics for step-by-step recipe and exact measurements.

NOTE - Turmeric, ginger & mustard seeds - if added too much, can make food slightly bitter. So add less first.
I have linked to my cabbage w/peas recipe as well as lentil recipe/video so you can make the whole lunch/dinner tonight.
Do enjoy with family/friends as well as give some to your dogs. Very healthy for them..:)
1. The FIRST row is the ingredient list for your tadka today. The 2nd row is what I used while cooking my cabbage w/peas recipe. Yum!
2. Now mix this tadka with your lentils. Here, click on image for the lentil recipe. Enjoy!
3. Ah! And then, everything comes together...:)
